In this book about acceptance and respect, Daniel shows true courage and with his aunt shows us that good can triumph over evil.

Daniel the Cowboy starts out on an ordinary shopping trip with his aunt in their urban neighborhood. As a treat, Daniel's aunt gave him a nickel and promised to stop at the candy store on the way home. When they finished their shopping and neared the candy shop they noticed a crowd gathered around the story. As they got closer, they saw that something had been written on the sidewalk and Miz Chu, the Taiwanese owner, was crying. Shocked and saddened by what had happened, Daniel knew he had to do something. He quickly grabbed a bucket with soap and water and cleaned up the sidewalk. When he washed off the hurtful words, his aunt and Miz Chu headed for Daniel's home to share some sweet potato pie!
